Director of Iran's Cinema Organization Emphasizes Research and Calls for Cinema Think Tank at Annual Award Ceremony.
In his speech at the closing ceremony of the Sixth Annual Research Award, Mohammad Khazaei, the Director of Iran's Cinema Organization (ICO), highlighted the necessity of establishing a Cinema Think Tank. The ceremony was reported by the Cinema Organization's Public Relations Office.
According to the Public Relations Department of ICO, Khazaei began by commending the organizers of the Research Award ceremony, emphasizing the crucial role of research in ensuring the longevity of any initiative. He stated, "The foundation of any enduring movement is research. Many political, cultural, and economic programs lack sustainability without a solid research base."
Discussing the development of national cinema and its entry into the global market, Khazaei stressed the importance of a research-based approach. "All our decisions and programs should be founded on thorough research. While such a structure exists within the Cinema Organization, it needs strengthening," he explained. He cited the necessity of understanding audience preferences, such as the popularity of comedy films over art films, and determining the best strategies for global cinema representation aligned with Islamic values.
Khazaei questioned why, despite having talented individuals and quality films, Iran's cinema ranks only twelfth globally. "What steps must we take to reach the top three positions in the world? Establishing a cinema think tank is essential. For significant advancements in cinema, such an institute is indispensable. We plan to pursue this enduring initiative within the High Council of Cinema," he announced.
In his speech, Khazaei also celebrated the birthdays of Fatimah Zahra (SA) and Imam Khomeini (RA) and commemorated the anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani's martyrdom. He reflected on the sacrifices of Soleimani and other martyrs like Bakeri, Hemmat, and Sayyed Razi, acknowledging their dedication to the country and Islamic principles. Khazaei emphasized the responsibility of artists, researchers, critics, directors, and writers to honor and preserve the legacy of these national heroes.
Khazaei addressed the recent death of Nasser Tahmasb, a well-known voice actor, and the media controversies that followed. He criticized media dictators for their disparaging remarks posthumously and extended his condolences to those affected. "It is valuable to be a representative and voice of the Islamic Revolution. Conversely, it is not worthwhile to be the voice of anti-revolutionary dictators or Western intellectual and media currents," he asserted.
In conclusion, Khazaei underscored the importance of upholding the nation's spiritual and ethical values, honoring those who have stood by the nation and the revolution during critical historical moments. "The people will not forget those who betrayed the martyrs and the country in crucial times," he remarked, calling for collective responsibility in preserving the nation's heritage.
